The Starbucks Espresso Roast Whole Bean Coffee Review
Are you unable to make your espresso taste as good as those from the local coffee shop? You’re not alone. We all have our ideas about how the perfect cup of coffee should taste, and it can take some time to discover which coffee beans produce a desired flavor. When it comes to espressos, Starbucks manufactures found away to make the choice easier. Espresso lovers rejoice! The Starbucks Espresso Roast Whole Bean coffee brings a great espresso home.
Pre-grounded coffee can begin to stale fairly quickly compared to coffee beans. Whole beans produce a larger portion of oil that creates flavor and richness during the brewing process. Consumers also have the ability to determine the fineness of the ground when using whole beans. Some of the best tasting espressos contain a finely ground coffee bean. This helps to create a smooth balanced taste, as opposed to the extreme bitterness that can be associated with coffee beans of a darker roast. That is not to say that there is anything wrong with bitter coffee. Some of us actually prefer it that way. But, having a well- grounded coffee bean gives you more option to decide just how much acidity or bitterness you’d like to taste. A well grounded coffee bean also produces coffee that mixes better with flavoring components such as milk, creamers, and sugar as well as reducing the amount of ingredients needed to alter taste to one’s liking.
What is An Espresso?
It is a popular misconception to think of an espresso as a dark coffee with a tart taste. Contrary to this belief, espressos come in many forms including iced coffee and lattes. Espresso is not a type of coffee bean roast, but refers to the method in which the coffee is prepared. Unlike other brewing methods, espresso machines use pressure created by increasing water temperature and steam to extract the coffee. The process is quicker the alternative brewing methods and producers a small intense burst of coffee for consumers to enjoy.

How to Make an Espresso
After learning about the benefits of grinding your own coffee, I decided to try it myself. I started by pouring water into the espresso maker for pre- heating because the water needs to reach a steam producing temperature. I then begin grinding my Starbucks Espresso Roast whole beans into salt-sized grounds using a Hamilton Beach coffee grinder I purchased earlier in the year.. It was then time to pack the coffee grounds into the espresso machine’s “portafilter” or brewing basket using about seven grams of the grounds. Packing the coffee grounds tightly helps to create the perfect brew. Tamping or applying pressure to the grounds helps to complete this process. After Inserting the portafilter into the espresso machines brewer, I place my cup and immediately start the machine.
How Does Starbucks Espresso Roast Taste?
Within a few seconds, the creamy espresso begins to slowly drip into my favorite mug (You can just guess which from these star wars coffee mugs I use 🙂 ). Before adding any additional sweeteners I taste the espresso. The bold flavor associated with dark roasted coffees is definitely present. The coffee has a sharp taste, but surprisingly does not taste flat. I decide to add a bit of my favorite milk and the blend is perfect. It doesn’t take much to balance the sharp natural flavor and create a creamy shot just right for me.
